In addition to alarm systems, L & M Security can monitor your new or existing system with a personalised monitoring response plan to keep your property, possessions and family safe whether you’re at home or away 24/7.

Have peace of mind knowing that your electronic security system, smoke alarm, medical alert, panic devices, tamper, refrigeration plant, opening out of scheduled hours, and late to close /opens  can be monitored 24/7 by our professional monitoring centre.

If in the event that a monitored alarm is activated i.e. power failure, intrusion, tamper switch, etc. your electronic security system will automatically send a signal depending on the monitoring format, either by utilizing an existing telephone line at your premise, or with alternative methods.

Your Security System is connected to our 24 hour Monitoring Control Room using one of the following communications:-

Dialer

Dialer lines allow one-way communication from the security system’s panel to the monitoring control room. It operates via a standard phone line or PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). In an alarm event the security system creates and sends a signal to the control room’s receivers (basically it makes a phone call). The monitoring centre receives the signal (standard call charges apply) and the control room operators follow the instructions specified for the type of alarm signal received.

This is the most cost-effective type of communication and is most commonly used with residential or small business sites.

GSM

GSM uses the mobile phone network as its communication path and it is very difficult to disable. Hence it is often used in conjunction with a dialler line as a back-up. When using GSM the security system can still send signals to the monitoring centre despite interruptions to your phone line. They system uses a GSM mobile phone network to transmit the signal in the event of land-line failure.

This option is ideal for those sites that require a higher level of monitoring than the dialer provides.

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service)

GPRS lines allow two-way communication. GPRS operates on the packet radio network and sends data at specified intervals, allowing the Monitoring Centre to identify any loss of communication. The GPRS service will “poll” or check your connection at varied times from 90 seconds (for high security requirements) to 60 minutes (for lower security requirements).

Most GPRS devices allow a backup communications path to be connected in the event that the GPRS connection is lost which provides even greater protection. And at any time, you can swap between the primary and secondary communication paths.

GPRS is ideal for sites that do not have access to a phone line and require a higher level of security. It is a most cost effective way of providing this high level of security as it has the advantage of not using your phone line for communications thus saving on costly telephone bills.

Videofied

L & M Security is able to offer its customers Video Alarm Verification monitoring – Videofied. This form of monitoring uses GPRS communications.

Videofied is the latest state-of-the-art security technology. It is a totally wireless, self-powered alarm system that sends video verification of all alarm events to the monitoring centre in the form of 10-second videos. The camera is activated only in the event of an alarm. No phone line is required as it is totally radio based. This means there are no cabling requirements as well as no site power requirements.  Call and speak to our Technical Support Manager for more information.
